I think probably one of the most annoying things that people can do is use themselves as a barometer of what is acceptable. I'm sure I've done that at some point as well, but there is something so presumptuous about using yourself as the yardstick by which all people should measure a thing, it is appalling. "Well, I do (insert item here) all the time, so it can't be that bad."
Oh really? Why does the fact that you are capable of watching movie adaptations of musicals make movie adaptations of musicals, which are clearly one of the worst things ever, acceptable. Answer: It doesn't. In fact, your declaration of acceptance of such garbage relegates you to the depth from whence that garbage cometh. This confirms that movie musicals are garbage AND you suck. I suppose I should be grateful for the for that phrase. Almost without exception, it allows you to judge a person, instantly, as an overly self important douche and be wrong. To quote the great Brian Fantana, "60% of the time, it works everytime." I'm all about time saving devices.
